There are a total of 1500 seats for all the BTech specialisations in AKGEC. The seat allotment is carried out through UPTAC counselling and based on Class 12, AKGEC score, followed by an interview round. Tabulated below is the specialisation-wise seat intake:

The students can register for AKTU counselling for admission to AKGEC MTech courses. The registration and application can be done online. Candidates are required to fill out the application form online via the official website. The starting date of counselling registration will be intimated separately on the website. Candidates are advised to read the Information Brochure of counselling carefully and check their eligibility and applicable reservation category before filling out and submitting the application form.

Admission to MTech at Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College is through counselling and direct admission basd on fulfiment of eligibility criteria. Thus, aspirants can take admission through the counselling conducted by APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow. Direct admission is also granted to the candidates who meet the minimum eligibility criteria which is passing a relevant BTech degree with 60% aggregate from a recognised university.
