The Avila University is a private university, based in Kansas City, Missouri, that first opened its doors in 1916.
Avila was founded by the Sisters of the St. Joseph of Carondelet, after their arrival in Missouri from the Lyon region of France.
Its first group of faculty comprised of 15 members, which outnumbered the total students it had, however, now a 100 years later, the institute, accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, is home to over 1,300 students.
