The basiceligibility criterionfor pursuing. Sc. (Information Technology) degree is qualifying 10+2 or equivalent examination in Science stream with Maths, Physics and Chemistry as subjects studied and with a minimum of 50% marks secured in Maths and/or in aggregate.

There is no much difference, both are subjects relating with computer programming and hardware. However, CS is an old name. Moreover, in IT some universities and institutions use to provide some more technical information regarding technology like nanotech, etc.
