As per U.S. News ranking, Stanford ranks better than Caltech. Both these universities are the top-ranked universities globally and in the U.S.

The institute is home to some of the best research facilities in the country. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) being the most prominent one of the lot, which it manages for NASA.
The laboratory is used to send probes to outer-space, with the aim to explore planets of the solar system & monitor any notable changes on Earth.
Further, it also houses the Seismological Laboratory & an array of astronomical observatories such as the Palomar & W.M. Keck Observatory.

Applications from Indian students for the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) through Restrictive Early Action should reach before November 1, 2024 and Regular Decision candidates must submit their applications before January 3, 2025. The admissions committee conducts final application evaluations before sending notification results to students through Restrictive Early Action by mid-December 2024 and through Regular Decision by mid-March 2025. Students who receive admission to Caltech through either Restrictive Early Action or Regular Decision must confirm their attendance for the May 1, 2025 enrollment date.

A small 8.7% of applicants manage to join Caltech each year based on their SAT score of 1545 and average GPA level of 4.21. Indian students who want to study at Caltech must obtain outstanding SAT scores surpassing 1550 and demonstrate outstanding academic merit through their 3.5 GPA or higher. Caltech students face a heavy financial challenge because annual tuition amounts to approximately INR 50 lakhs.
