Getting admission to B.Tech. Computer Science course is generally through an entrance exam which is conducted either by a recognised board like CBSE or State level exams which are conducted by State-sponsored universities. There are various entrance exams in India to get into B.Tech. Computer Science course. Some of these entrance tests are held at national level and include a tough competition like JEE exam for IITs and NITs. JEE or Joint Entrance Examination is conducted in the month of April with the guidelines of MHRD for admission to government aided engineering colleges. It is divided into two stages:

Around 13 Lacs students appear for this exam on a single day, conducted by one of the IITs. It is required to get into prestigious engineering colleges of India like NITs, IITs etc. For shortlisting of final candidates, a weightage of 40% is also accorded to marks scored in 10+2 level examination. There are various other universities which conduct their separate examination for entry into B.Tech. Computer Science, like Manipal Institute of Technology and Vellore Institute of Technology. Certain other universities rely upon State Level Entrance Test conducted by state boards for entry into B.Tech. Computer Science. These entrances and universities vary state wise across India.
