According to preavious years' CUET Mathematics papers, the questions have moderate to high difficulty level. The test paper do have direct questions. But, some of the questions require time as deeper understanding to a topic. However, the level of difficulty depends on a student's preparation.

Yes, a commerce student can take the Common University Entrance Test without opting Mathematics. However, if the subject mapping criteria of your target university's UG course mandates Mathematics, then it will be a compulsory subject.
