Remuneration after Bachelor of Science in Genetics
Bachelor of Science in Genetics graduates will get a remuneration of around Rs.25000/- per month in Government sector firms. Genetic counselors are health professionals with specialized Bachelors degrees & experience in the areas of human genetics & counseling. Most enter the field from a variety of disciplines, including biology, genetics, nursing, psychology & public health. Genetic counselors provide support for families who may be at risk in inherited health conditions. The role of a genetic counselor constantly expanding along with the emergence of new technologies. Heightened public awareness coupled with scientific advances. Currently, there are very few formal Genetic Counselling Training programmes in India. The scenario that genetic counselors are increasingly & becoming a valuable part of our healthcare services. One may even help conduct research related to genetic conditions or genetic counselling.
The genetic counselors are uniquely positioned with wide scope in health sector in India as well as abroad.

Most of the institutes do not offer pure specialisation in Genetic engineering at the under graduate level. It is generally offered as a subsidiary i.e. along with other subjects like microbiology, biochemistry etc in universities like Osmania University, Kakatiya University. Specialisation in genetic engineering is generally offered at the post graduate level. Some of the institutes offering the same include IIT Delhi and Kharagpur, JNU, BITS Pilani. B.Sc in Genetics is offered by Institute of Genetic Engineering in Kolkata. There is no entrance exam as admission is based on 12th marks.
