Candidates with a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (Architecture/Planning/Engineering/Economics/Mathematics) with the minimum required aggregate become eligible for admission. The minimum aggregate differs from each PhD specialisation to another.

For admission to the PhD course, NIT Calicut accepts the scores of entrance exams like GATE/CSIR NET/UGC NET/ JEST/NBHM/KSCSTE and the Written Test conducted by the institute. Candidates are shortlisted based on merit in these entrance exams and are further called for an interview round.

To apply for PhD admission at NIT Calicut, visit the official website of the institute and submit a duly filled application form online. However, it is mandatory for candidates to have met the basic eligibility, i.e. a master's degree in a relevant discipline and a valid score in the entrance exams accepted by the institute.

Eligibiity Criteria:

A candidate should have atleast 50% aggregate marks in undergraduation.

A candidate should qualify JMI entrance exam with the required cut off score.

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of the above eligibility criteria are called for the next rounds where further screening is doen for final selection

The JMI Entance Exam marks required for MA varies between 30 and 79. It depends on the course of M.A the candidate want to pursue.

Note: The cut offs are subject to change and it may vary.

Admission to PhD course is based on Bennett Research Aptitude Test (BRAT) conducted by the university. Besides, the university also accepts national-level entrance exams like UGC NET, CSIR, GATE, ICAR, SLET for admission to PhD courses. Once the entrance exam is conducted, candidates are called for presentation of preliminary research proposal and an interview round. 

The university declares the result of BRAT on the official website of the university. Selected candidates have to pay the programme fee to confirm their seat in the university.

Bennett University eligibility criteria varies specialisation-wise for PhD course. However, the common eligibility among all is that aspirants with bachelor's degree with honours and a rigorous research report in the major or relevant area of study and 75% marks of 8.0 CGPA on a 10 point scale in the relevant programme can apply for any of the PhD specialisations. Below is PhD specialisation-wise eligibility criteria:

CSEMTech/ MCA/ ME/ MSc/ MS in any discipline with at least 50% ggregate or a minimum CGPA of 5.5
Engineering and Applied SciencesME/ MTech/ MSc/ MPhil with at least 60% aggregate or a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale
Law

A Master's degree in Law/any other discipline Economics, English, History, Management,  Political Science and Sociology with at least 55% aggregate

Applicants with over three years of industry/ teaching/ practicing/ managerial/ 
professional experience would be preferred

Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination but awaiting results are also eligible to apply

ManagementMaster's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master's degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body with at least 60% aggregate or a CGPA of 6.5
Journalism and Mass Communication

Master's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication with at least 55% aggregate in aggregate or its equivalent grade

Candidates with a master's degree in other domains are also eligible to apply

School of Liberal Arts

Master's degree in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 55% aggregate
