JEE Main Eligibility

Prospective candidates aiming to pursue a BTech course need to meet the established criteria set by the colleges. Those who fulfill the eligibility conditions are eligible to apply for the course. Below are the common eligibility requirements for admission to BTech colleges in India:

1. Applicants should have successfully completed Class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 60% from a recognised board, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects. (Note: The pass percentage may vary among different colleges.)

2. Candidates are required to have taken the JEE Main exam and obtained a valid score. It's important to note that colleges may have specific minimum score requirements, so it's advisable to check the cutoff scores for the colleges to which you are applying.

The admission process typically involves online counseling, where students are allocated seats based on their score/rank in the exam, through which the institute extends offers of admission. Some institutes may also incorporate additional selection processes, such as group discussions or personal interviews.

Candidates must ensure that they meet the specified eligibility criteria before proceeding to apply for the JEE Main exam in 2024. Those satisfying the following conditions are considered eligible to complete the NTA JEE Main Application Form for 2024. Eligible candidates include those who have successfully completed their Class 12 examination in 2022 or 2023, as well as those currently appearing for the 2024 exams. There is no age limit for applicants. For Paper 1 (BE/BTech), candidates are required to have studied Physics and Maths in Class 12, along with any other subject from Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a Technical vocational subject. For Paper 2A (BArch), candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Maths in their Class 12 curriculum. As for Paper 2B (BPlan), eligibility mandates having studied Maths in Class 12.

JEE Main 2024 Eligibility Criteria encompass various conditions for aspiring candidates. First and foremost, there is no age limit for individuals wishing to take the exam. In terms of educational qualifications, candidates must have either completed their class 12 in 2022 or 2023 or be currently enrolled and appearing in 2024 from a recognised board. Those who have passed an examination equivalent to class 12 are also eligible to apply. Candidates are permitted to appear in the exam for three consecutive years starting from the year they pass class 12. The compulsory subjects for the qualifying exam differ based on the desired course: for BTech, it includes Physics, Mathematics, and any one subject among Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or Technical Vocational Subject; for BArch, it includes Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics; and for BPlan, it requires Mathematics. Notably, there is no minimum percentage requirement for appearing in the exam. However, candidates need to secure 75% marks after qualifying JEE Mains for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.
