The basic eligibility criteria is that the applicant must have passed Class 12 and a certificate or UG course in the respective specialisation from a recognised organisation to be eligible. The University of Kerala PG Diploma category-wise eligibility requirements (CGPA) are mentioned below:
- Eligibility for General category: CGPA of 2 or above in a 4 - point scale, 3.5 or above in a 7 -point scale or 5 or above in a 10-point scale.
- Relaxation for candidates from SC/ST category: CGPA of 1.8 or above in a 4-point scale or, 3.15 or above in a 7-point scale or, 4.5 or above in a 10-point scale.

For nonsponsored seats at Kerala University, students are inducted based on their GATE results. Those who have not qualified GATE can appear for the university's in-house entrance test. However, the preference is given to GATE students.
For sponsored seats, students are evaluated based on aggregate marks at Bachelor level, work experience, and performance in interviews conducted by the Department Council. The weight distribution is as follows:

The Kerala University M.Tech admission process begins with the eligibility check. As per official sources, to be eligible for the course, candidates must have completed a BE/BTech or equivalent degree with 55% marks in Electronics/Electrical and Electronics/Electronics and Communication Engineering, Applied Electronics and Instrumentation, or MSc Degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electronic Science or Electronics.

The eligibility for admission to two-year full-time MBA course affiliated to University of Kerala is a pass in BA/ BSc/ BCom degrees with 50% marks in aggregate in Part-III and for all other Degrees, 50% marks in aggregate. The university provides relaxation of 2% marks from the prescribed minimum for admission to SEBC and OEC category candidates. SC/ST candidates need 35% aggregate for the degree examination. The degree possessed by the candidates must be approved by the University of Kerala. Final Year Students can also apply.
