The opening ranks for admission to the Madurai Medical College change annually Candidates who appeared for the NEET UG-2023 had to secure rank ranging from 3500 to 4500 to obtain the required score of around 610-620 marks out of 720 for admission to the medical course. For the reserved categories, the cutoff rank was slightly more relaxed and a range was given of 7,000 to 8,000. This should however be done while bearing in mind that the cutoff marks are arrived at by the college administration and this depends on so many factors like for instance the level of extremists in the exam and the number of students doing the exam.

The requirement to join MBBS at Madurai Medical College is 10+2 with physics, chemistry and biology/botany and /or zoology with an average of 50%. Applicants must also have passed the NEET examination; for general categories, they must have scored at least 50% while for reserved category students 40% was acceptable. The college also takes admission tranfer students and any candidate who has passed 10+2 from any recognised board providing Science group with minimum 50% marks. There is an intake capacity of nearly 150 students for MBBS, total 85% of seats are allocated for the state quota candidates.
