During the last round of Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences MDS counselling, the closing ranks for MDS in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedies, MDS in Prosthodontics, Crown and bridge and MDS in Oral Medicine and Radiology were 1, 2, and 9, respectively, for the students belonging to the General (All-India) category.
Getting a seat for MDS in Public Health Dentistry was the least competitive as the cut-off rank for the specialisation during the last round was 358. For the OBC (All-India) category, the most competitive MDS specialisation was MDS in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedies.

85% of the total MAIDS BDS seats are filled through the Delhi (state quota) NEET counselling conducted by the Faculty Of Medical Sciences. The counselling process is typically conducted in August. The exact Delhi NEET counselling dates are yet to be released. In 2024, the registration process for the Round-1 started on August 14. The last date to register for the Round-1 was August 20, 2024.

MAIDS BDS counselling for 15% of the total seats is condcuted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the All India Quota (AIQ). MCC has not yet released the NEET UG counselling dates for the upcoming admission year (2025). It is expected to be released in July 2025. Meanwhile, candidates can refer to the previous-year counselling schedule to get an idea of the counselling timeline:

To be eligible to pursue a BDS at MAIDS, MAMC, applicants must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
- Candidates must complete the age of 17 years on or before Dec 31 of the year of admission
- Candidates must have passed Class 12, with an aggregate of at least 50% (40% for Scheduled Castes/Tribes) in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together, or a BSc with at least 50% and any two subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology); and a pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in Class 12
