The 3-year work bond is tied to the MOE Tuition Grant. Indian students who accept the grant have to sign a 3-year work bond to spend the first 3 years of their careers at a Singapore-registered company, after graduation.
Most Indian students accept the grant as a 3-year career in Singapore compensates them enough financially.

Living on-campus is better for Indian students at Nanyang Uni Singapore. It is more affordable (INR 29 K to INR 65.3 K per month), takes less time to reach classes or campus amenities like gyms and study rooms. It is also easier to socialise with peers.
Off-campus living is better for students looking for better privacy and less strict rules. However, it is more expensive (INR 51 K to INR 1.6 Lakhs per month) than living on-campus.

Nanyang Uni Singapore is based around 23 to 25 kms from the city centre (Raffles place). It takes an hour to get there via public transport (MRT + bus) or 30 to 40 minutes by taxi.
It's remote location is usually not a problem. The campus itself has a self-contained lifestyle (cafes, restaurants, and 24-hour convinience stores). Free internal shuttle buses are available for Indian students to explore the campus.
