It is always better to go for a degree course. It is generally very difficult to get admitted to a higher degree after only a diploma course.
According to industry professionals, a degree holder is preferred over a diploma holder in the same field.

Hello Anik,
Being a professional lifestyle photographer, it is my recommendation that you don't have to go to photography college to learn it. You can do some short term photography courses. You need to learn basics and advance tricks. Mostly, it's about seeing, feeling the moment and capturing the best possible perspective of that situation.
If you really love photography and also want to make money while doing it, then you can get a degree in mass communication or visual communication. To get a degree, you can choose any steam in class 12th.
All the best.

Hi Ravi,
You can surely pursue PG Diploma course in photography if you wish to carry a part-time career option along with practising as a doctor. But choosing photography as a full-time career is definitely not a good idea.

6) Wedding
7) Macro
8) Photojournalism
9) Architectural
10) Black & White
You may select any of the above types and go for the course. Further, you can work as a freelancer.
