Stella Maris College Cut-off

Stella Maris College (SMC) is an autonomous college affiliated with the University of Madras. According to NIRF 2022, the college is ranked 58th out of the top 200 colleges in India.
It offers more than 40 courses in streams like commerce, science, and humanities and follows a Choice-Based Credit System.
According to the college's official website, the admission process is primarily based on merit, i.e., a student's total aggregate on their previous qualifying exam (10+2). Every academic year, it admits approximately 1,000 students for various courses, with the minority Catholic community receiving 50% of the seats. A score above 90% will be safe to qualify on a merit basis.
For B.A. English and all postgraduate programmes, there will be an entrance test; for Bachelor of Visual Arts (B.V.A.), there will be an aptitude test (drawing/designing) before the interview.
Currently, the admission process is going on and the first merit roll number wise list has been released on the official website.

The cut-off for the first list has 798 on 800. Parents of students who had scores 780 were getting agitated when they realised their children did not stand a chance. We are getting worried on how to bring the list out, says Ms. Prasad. An eighty or eighty-five per cent marks seems to have become a mediocre score to ensure a seat to one of the top city colleges. In most colleges, for courses that are highly sought after the cut-offs are as high as 98 to 99 per cent.
Admission is given to students with at least two or more centums. We are not able to consider a student with one centum, with the limited seats, says Margaret in charge of admissions in the self-financing stream in the Women's Christian College. From 780 marks for the top three courses the marks has increased to 790 this year, in the main subjects. Similar is the situation in the Madras Christian College where the B.Com course has high demand.
