Mangalore University offers a BSc in Animation and Visual Effects course for the duration of three years. This course is offered through one of its affiliated college- Silicon College of Advanced Studies. The subjects offered in the first semester of this course include theory and practical subjects that are closely related to creating or enhancing imagery in films, games, and other media. The names of the subjects offered in the first semester are as follows:

• Traditional and Stop Motion Animation

• Basics of Graphic Design 
• Raster Graphic Lab Photoshop

A B.Sc. in Animation, specialising in visual effects (VFX) and gaming, provides many job options in the media and entertainment sector. Graduates can work in advertising agency, game firms, film production houses, and animation studios, among other places. Career options for those with a passion for video games include storyboarding artist, character designer, 3D modeller, game developer, and game animator.

Opportunities for jobs as a VFX artist, compositor, motion graphics designer, or visual effects supervisor are available in the film and television industries. Because the entertainment business depends so largely on cutting-edge animation and visual effects to improve storytelling and create immersive experiences, there is an increasing need for qualified workers in these fields on a global scale.
