Delhi University is all set to launch a series of short-term courses from the next academic session. It's worth your attention as add-on courses can give you that extra edge in today's competitive scenario.
Nowadays, employers look for candidates who possess more than conventional degrees and diplomas. Likewise, Delhi University has a bunch of new courses to offer. Such courses are specifically designed for undergraduate students and offer a range of subjects to choose from.
Students of humanities can opt from a number of certificate courses in foreign languages, mass media, advertising and human rights. SGTB Khalsa College is set to launch a certificate course in three foreign languages - Japanese, Korean and Chinese. German and French languages are already taught at the college. While discussing the relevance of such new offerings with TOI, Jaswinder Singh, principal of SGTB Khalsa College said that such courses enhance the skill-set of students and also give a boost to their degrees. Learning an additional language is beneficial for humanities students. In light of the significant increase in the trade and online business with China, Japan, and Korea, the college is also planning to come up with some new courses in trade and online business.
Singh added that sports marketing and economics are the most coveted programs at the institute which involve studying business modules, marketing strategies, etc. After the completion of this degree, most of the students of the college work as event managers or in the area of promoting sports goods or as media-coordinators for sports channels.
Recently, Hindu college has also added a new add-on course in actuarial sciences from the next academic session. Principal of Hindu College, Pradyumn Kumar told TOI that Actuarial science is an illusionary area of the insurance industry. Ramjas College also offers add-on courses in forensic science, conflict resolution, biotechnology and capital market programmes.
Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College has also introduced various short-term and add-on courses in fingerprinting and document examination, personality development through theatre, and certificate and diploma in Russian language.
