NCERT will soon to be upgraded as a university

Union HRD minister Kapil Sibal confirmed that National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT) will soon to be upgraded as a University.

This proposal was discussed on the occasion of NCERTs golden jubilee celebration and he has asked his team to take the required action for the same as soon as possible. He said that, if it will be upgraded as a university then this center of education would be able to meet the academics world with the practical exposure of the real world.

He has also promised to enhance the amount of scholarship under NCERTs National Talent Search Examination Scheme (NTSE) and at present it gives Rs. 500 month to a scholar which is preposterous. The 12th five year plan will have a national mission on teacher education, said by the minister.
