Now Gear up for IIM after Class XII
Here is a good news for all the students, dreaming to make it big in management. The Indian Institute of Management-Indore is starting a five year integrated post-graduate programme (PGP) in management from 2011. Admissions into the programme can be taken by students, right after class XII. IIM-Indore five year PGP will be special, as this course will be one of its kind programme. To take admissions into the programme, a candidate must have completed 17 years of age and not more than 19 years old as on June 30, 2011.
The five year integrated post-graduate programme in management is open to students who have cleard class 12 or higher secondary or an equivalent exam. According to a senior official, it is widely believed that a nation's ability to influence the younger students is much greater if we start early. It is hoped that the nation will be able to shape them into outstanding leaders.
According to IIM-Indore Director, Ravichandran, the proposed batch size for IIM-Indore five year PGP this year would be 120. He also said that the institute has adequate infrastructural facilities for this year to handle a batch of this strength. Up gradation to create a new infrastructure is also in the pipeline.
Ravichandra is also of the opinion, that the new programme will not in any way diminish the brand value of IIM. On the contrary the fresh move will only give a boost to the image of the institute.
About 40% of the programme is expected to focus on subjects related with Mathematics, Statistics, Logic and Computer Science. The course will also acquaint students with Literature and Political Science, History and Biological Sciences. Students will also be benefitted in learning Foreign Language and one Indian language. The institute will also help students in learning soft skills like leadership development, personality development, team work and written and oral communication.
Analytical test and personal interview for shortlisted candidates will be conducted at Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Indore in between September 27-29, 2011.
