ICAI Exam 2019: How to fill the application form

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), which regulates the profession of Chartered Accountancy in the nation, is the second largest professional association of Chartered Accountants in the world. The ICAI conducts the CA programme and the related qualifying exams to certify accounting professionals as Chartered Accountants.

The CA programme includes three levels for which the qualifying examinations are conducted by ICAI.

These are:

  • Common Proficiency Test (CPT)
  • Intermediate (Integrated Professional Competence) Examination
  • Final Examination

ICAI Exam 2019 application form & registration

Any candidate who wants to pursue ICAI has to register for CPT online. Application fee of ICAI is Rs. 1000 and the examination charge is Rs. 500. Application fees can be done online through VISA or MASTER credit/debit card. Candidates who are paying the fee online will be charged only the exam fee.

The ICAI exam 2019 application form can also be purchased from Deputy Secretary (Examinations), The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Indraprastha Marg, New Delhi on payment of Rs 1500.

The fee for the candidates who choose Kathmandu centre is required to pay Rs 1700. The fee for candidates who select Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai and Muscat centers will be the US$300.

The Forms should be submitted to the ICAI office before the last date of the registration. The adequately filled form along with the candidate’s signature and a recent passport size photo should be mailed to the ICAI headquarters through speed or registered post.

The ICAI exam dates for 2019 are yet to be announced. The CPT December 2018 exam will be held on December 16, 2018. Always keep a photocopy of the filled application form and also keep receipt which is issued by the post office or acknowledgement issued by ICAI as proof of submission of the filled-up form within the last date at least till downloading of admit card. The late charge of submission of exam application form after the scheduled last date would be 600/- for Indian / Kathmandu Centres and US $ 10 for Abroad Centres as decided by the Council.

Key points to keep in mind for CPT exam registration:

  • Candidate should create a login ID on the official ICAI website, as a one-time registration
  • On successful registration, you will receive username and password through an email or SMS
  • The candidate has to log in through the username and password to fill the application form with accurate details in every mandatory field
  • Incomplete forms will get rejected
  • Payment of the fee has to be done online
  • After successful payment of the fees, the candidate will be required to download the properly filled form and take a print out of the application form
  • If the image uploaded does not appear on the printout, the candidates have to attach two latest photographs of passport size – 3.5X4.5 cms. One attested and one non-attested
  • If the signatures does not appear in the printout, then sign at specified places.  And also get the sign of guardian/parents on the form
  • The candidate also required to get the Application Form attested by a Chartered Accountant or a Gazetted Officer or Principal of School/College
  • The candidates must mention "Online Application Form for CPT Exam" on the envelope of the post
