What would it be like if we could give characters the illusion of life? And how would it feel like if this opportunity was just a flick away! Yes, the new vogue in town is a career in Animation and Multimedia, and a career in the very same is strewn with appealing and astounding opportunities.

Sridhar VT, Education Mail Bureau, Chief Operating officer, Academy of Animation and Gaming (AAG) authenticates the reasons for B.A students for opting a career in Animation and Multimedia.

When asked on what was the vision behind introducing B.Sc (Animation) Programme, the one of its kind course in his Delhi-NCR based college, he affirmed "We started in 2007 with a B.Sc (Animation) Programme certified by Karnataka State Open University (KSOU). At that time; no institute offered a degree in animation." His company, ILA Creative Technologies, has turned out to be the Nodal agency of the KSOU as it has signed a 20 Programmes deal with the KSOU last year. It offers a six month certificate course to a postgraduate degree in Multimedia, Animation and Gaming. Further, they have launched an M.Sc (Animation) programme alongside Annamalai University.

Presently, the syllabus of the PG programmes demarcates with the UG programmes, in a sense where for a PG programme, any graduate student with embellished knowledge in Animation could apply but for a UG Programme, students are supposed to have working knowledge of the subjects.

On inquiring about the animation education trends and scope in the country, he exclaims thatthe animation industry is spurting in the country notably after the initiation of open universities in this field four to five years ago. He adds that they have received a couple of requests from universities to form partnerships. Moreover the government too plans to start animation education school in India in the days to come.

He opines students fervent on and for a career in animation and multimedia to go for a B. A. (Multimedia), which covers graphic design, web design, 2D and 3D animation, and architectural visualization.

For students of animation and multimedia, a wide number of career tracks have opened up namely a degree in multimedia which opens up doors for graduates in advertising, architecture, gaming, fashion, graphics, mobile and television. Around 2.5 to 3.5 Lakhs of new job would be created by the end of 2011.

A career in animation and multimedia could prove to be super highway to success, so fasten your seatbelts and hit the track!
