Q: What is the eligibility criteria and selection process for admission in post-graduate programmes at MET Institute of Mass Media?
A: To become eligible for admission to any of the postgraduate programmes offered by MET Institute of Mass Media, the student must be graduate in any stream from a recognised university with a minimum aggregate of 50 per cent. Students in the final year of the graduation are also eligible to apply. The admission will be subject to final year completion and a minimum aggregate of 50 per cent in all three years.
As a part of the admission process:
- The aspiring candidate must fill up the online application form by paying a nominal fee of Rs 1,200 online. The application forms are also available offline at the university campus.
- Candidates need to undergo entrance test conducted by the institute (MET CET)
- Eligible and qualifying candidates are then called for a Group Discussion (GD) round followed by a Personal Interview (PI) round. Looking at the current situation, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the GD and PI rounds will be conducted online
All the applicants are evaluated out of a total of 150 marks, 100 for MET CET exam, 25 for GD round and 25 marks for PI round.
Q: What type of questions are asked in MET CET exam?
A: CET is more to test applicants' communication skills than their subject knowledge. It comprises of General Knowledge questions, and numerical skills and comprehension skill-based questions.
Q: What are the various postgraduate programmes offered at MET Institute of Mass Media?
A: We are an autonomous institute offering Advance Diploma in Mass Media with specialisations in:
- Advertising
- Entertainment
- Digital Marketing
- Journalism and Pubilc Relation
Q: Journalism and Public Relation are ideally two different job profiles. How will this combined specialisation help?
A: Looking from the corporate point of view, these two are definitely different job profiles but if looked from an academic point of view, these are two sides of the same coin. The idea behind combining these specialisations and offer them as one is that it opens up more job opportunities for students. Students graduating in this specialisation have more career choices than being stuck on one.
The curriculum approach in all the specialisations involves more practical training than theoretical. It will make students industry-ready.
Q: What is the total cost of this one-year programme?
A: The total cost of one-year Advance Diploma in Mass Media programme is Rs 3.02 lakh. The student can choose any one of the specialisations mentioned above. The programme with any specialisation is divided into three certification programmes with four to five months of duration.
Q: Can you share some placement trends?
A: MET Institute of Mass Media is known for its track record of 100 per cent placements. The institute assures 100 per cent to all of its students. The top recruiters that participate every year in the placement season include AltBalaji, KWAN, Viacom18, Star, McCann Worldgroup, CNBC Awaaz and Rajishri Entertainment.
