Dulal Panda joins as NIPER, Mohali Director

On 15 July 2021, Dulal Panda has joined as the new Director of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali.

Prior to joining NIPER Mohali, Panda was serving as the Chair Professor at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay in the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering.

Panda comes with a rich experience of 20 years in teaching. Panda's research interest includes microtubule dynamics, FtsZ assembly dynamics, Eukaryotic and prokaryotic cell division, mitosis, FtsZ targeted antibacterial drugs and biomolecular spectroscopy, and cancer chemotherapy.

There are many awards he won such as JC Bose National Fellowship, DST India, Sun Pharma Research Award, TATA Innovation Fellowship - DBT India, DAE- SRC outstanding research investigator award, G.N. Ramachandran Gold Medal (CSIR INDIA), SC Bhattacharya award excellence in basic sciences IIT Bombay, CDRI excellence in drug research, Fogarty International Research Award, National Institute of Health, USA (2001), and National Biosciences Award, DBT, Govt of India, and Swarnajayanti Fellowship from DST, Government of India.

Apart from various publications in peer-reviewed journals, he also has to his credit four Indian and three American patents.
