Post Grad Scholarship for Indian students: A helpful initiative by IELTS authority
IELTS and TOEFL are two main language exams which are majorly accepted by all the foreign countries. Most of the universities require one as minimum eligibility for admission. The minimum score required for a under graduate programme is 5.5 bands for IELTS and for post graduate programme is 6 bands but for law,
nursing, and education courses it is 7.5 minimum score. IELTS is accepted by over 6,000 institutions in 125 countries worldwide, over 2,500 institutions and programmes in the US. The number of IELTS test takers increased all over the world to over 1.4 million in 2009.
To get admission in a foreign university most of the students apply for different type of scholarship to finance their studies. Scholarship is the simple and easy way to finance your studies because if you apply for a loan than you have to repay it, but with scholarship you need not to repay it. Scholarship is like an award which helps you financially. Many universities offer different types of scholarship to foreign students, some are based on exams, some are on financial record and some are on first come first serve basis.
British Council in India conducted one scholarship exam for post graduate courses. Many aspiring candidates took this exam. Eight students stand to receive a scholarship award worth Rupees three lakh to pursue their Post Graduation studies in 2010, under the British Council International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Scholarship Award that is being launched recently. .
IELTS authority in India made a statement, ''We will be selecting eight Indian students who are planning to follow a Post Graduate course of study at an overseas university in 2010 in line with its mission to promote the global sharing of knowledge and ideas.”
The authority further added into this, ''By giving them access to international educational opportunities, we hope to benefit both individuals and the countries from which they come, while at the same time promoting higher education links between the UK and India. We are also launching the award in three other Asian countries with a total investment of UK Pound 60,000 (Rs 42,00,000). The Award is simultaneously also being launched in Korea, Vietnam and Taiwan.”
The winner of this scholarship can apply for any full time post graduate courses in any country and university which accept the IELTS score as part of minimum qualification for admission into the course. The students who want to apply for this scholarship must be a citizen of India and the second important condition is that he/she must apply for a post graduate programme. There are further more criteria of selection is like that a candidate must score minimum 6.5 band score to be eligible for that and have to present one presentation over the topic.
This is not the tough nut to crack for, if you are surely looking a scholarship for higher studies to study abroad. Getting a good amount in form of scholarship is a good option because it helps you a lot in your financing.
