Punjab government schools to give admission without transfer certificates. Read further to know more.

To help students get admission in government schools without any trouble, the Punjab School Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla has announced that the department has decided to remove the restriction on transfer certificates for admission. An official for the school education department said that a letter has been issued in this regard to all district education officers. The restrictions of transfer certificate for admission in government schools has been lifted and school heads have been asked to admit such students at their own level.

He also informed that the school head have been asked to take in writing from the parents of the students who do not have the transfer certificates with them. The school education department has also issued directives to the district authorities to send the names of the schools to headquarters that have not issued transfer certificates to the students.

Schools have also been instructed not to compel students who do not have their birth certificate but want to take admission in the government schools. Such students are to be admitted on a provisional basis.

Punjab government has earlier announced that it will be distributing 1.78 lakh smartphone to class 12th students studying in state-run government schools by November 2020. As per the media reports, the state government started distributing the first batch of 50,000 smartphones from today, i.e. August 12. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had earlier said that the first batch of smartphones will be given to students who are currently pursuing class 12 in government schools and do not have smartphones. This is been done with an aim to provide every student in the state, access to online classes.
