IIT-D to offer certificate course on Business Management

Under the tutelage of its Continuing Education Programme, The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D), will be offering a certificate course in Business Management. The institute had earlier kicked off a scheme of ‘Minor Area’ specialisation for all engineering students under which a minor area specialisation is awarded to a student who completes five courses in Business Management.

Designed to impart the same courses and more in a modular flexinet mode, the program will be offered by the institute's Department of Management Studies.

• Management accounting and financial Management
• Operations Management
• Marketing Management
• Creative Problem Solving
• Information Systems Management

Eligibility:

• Applicant should be a graduate in any discipline from a recognised University/ Institute
• Those in 3rd and final year Engineering in any discipline may also apply
• Working executives can also apply for the programme

The program will be divided over three phases:

• Phase 1: From January 7 to January 12, 2013 (9 am to 5 pm with regular classes at IIT Delhi campus)
• Phase 2: From January 18 to May 18, 2013 (Friday to Saturday from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm - Online Classes)
• Phase 3: From June 10 to June 15, 2013 (9 am to 5 pm with regular classes at IIT Delhi campus)

The classroom and the online courses will be conducted by IIT Delhi faculty as well as invited guest faculty from other academic institutions and industry.

Accommodation:

IIT-D will be providing Hostel/Guest House accommodation to out-station students for phase I and III, subject to availability. The same shall be available on a first-come-first served basis at nominal charges which will include lodging charges and all meals @Rs 300 per day for Hostel, Rs 500 per day for USO House and Rs 750 per day for Guest House.

Fee:

Rs 75,000/- payable by cash or by way of Demand Draft favouring the ‘Registrar IIT Delhi’ payable at Delhi.

Selection procedure:

The selection of students will be based on the following:

• Past academic performances of the applicant, if any
• Work experience, if any
• Purpose of study
• Essay (topic given in the application form– ‘What adjectives do you think would be most frequently used to describe you by those who know you best? Briefly explain’, in 200 words)
• References

Due weightage will be given to each component.

Selected candidates will be informed about the same by December 25, 2012.The list of selected candidates will also be available at www.ifehe.com.

Subsequently, each and every student will be issued a username & password for logging in to the online virtual classroom platform www.wiziq.com,at the time of the classes. Applicants should have a laptop/desktop computer with good internet connectivity as all lectures/ classes will be archived on the website and each can be accessed any time.

Aspirants may attend all online classes regularly and submit all assignments on a regular basis.

After the successful completion of the program, students will be awarded a certificate by CEP.
