CBSE 10th topper Srivant Kumar has scored 99.6% in his board exams. His secret was not shortcuts or expensive coaching. It was simple consistency and a deep focus on NCERT books. In this interview, Srivant shares his daily 3-hour study routine, how he overcame his fear of Social Science.
- How was your reaction after seeing CBSE 10th results? Did you score what you expected?
Seeing the results felt surreal. I had hoped to cross 97%. What came out was well beyond that and it made me very happy in that moment. - Please tell us something about your family background?
My father works at an MNC, and my mother runs her own online consultancy. My sister is currently doing her BDS from Karnataka. Growing up around people who take their work seriously has always kept me motivated to do the same. - How important were NCERT books in your preparation? Did you use any additional resources?
NCERTs were the backbone of my prep and I stuck to those. The NCERT Exemplar was specifically helpful. For Maths, I also worked through previous years' papers with additional guidance from my tutor. My teachers were very helpful throughout, which made a big difference. - What was your strategy to score this much percent?
I don't believe in shortcuts. Hard work is important. So is having a well-defined plan. Things didn't pile up because I studied regularly and reviewed previous material as I progressed. - Any advice for 2027 board exam students?
If you study well through the year, the exam period is much less stressful. I even watched the cricket World Cup when India played. I knew I had prepared thoroughly and revised the full syllabus, so why not? That kind of confidence only comes from inside. - Which was tough subject for you?
SST was the trickiest for me. I feel it was because the syllabus is much wider than the other subjects and because I made sure I gave it more time than the rest. Ending up with a 100 there made all that extra effort worth it. - Did you follow any specific strategy for revision in last 1 to 2 months?
My preparation was spread across the whole year. The last couple of months were more about revision and practice. The final stretch was just about consolidating the learning. - During your CBSE board preparation, what did your daily routine look like, and how many hours did you spend studying on average?
I studied around 3–4 hours on weekdays and took few short breaks.
