CBSE Topper Interview: Sharanyaa Tripathi has scored 98.8% in the CBSE Class 10 board exams. Coming from a family of engineers, she focused on consistency over overworking. She score 100/100 in four subjects and overcome Geography struggle. In this conversation with shiksha, she shares why NCERT textbooks are important and how she managed 8-hour study sessions without stressing. 

Q: Congratulations on your result! How was your reaction after seeing CBSE 10th results? Did you score what you expected?

Sharanyaa: Thank you for your kind wishes. It was a joyful moment for my family and me. I did not expect to score such great marks. I was pretty disappointed with Mathematics, because it has been my forte.

Q: Did you follow any specific strategy for revision in last 1 to 2 months?

Sharanyaa: I practiced sample papers for all the subjects and re-read the textbook. I also revisited my previous school exam papers. I practiced all the NCERT questions for maths.

Q: What are your future plans? Which career path are you aiming?

Sharanyaa: I have opted for PCM with Artificial Intelligence in grade 11. I'm aiming to pursue BTech or a career in Data Sciences.

Q: During your CBSE board preparation, what did your daily routine look like, and how many hours did you spend studying on average?

Sharanyaa: I studied 4 hours a day. During my board exams, it stretched to around 7-8 hours. I woke up around 6 am and began with Math. I practiced sample papers in the morning and revised them during the evening. 

Q: What was your strategy to score 98.8%?

Sharanyaa: I maintained a constant approach. I didn't overwork myself. My motto was to not leave anything for the last minute. I attended my mother's tuition regularly. I followed my teachers’ advice. I studied regularly and followed everything my teacher suggested. 

Q: What is your favourite subject?

Sharanyaa: My favourite subjects are Mathematics and English. 

Q: Please tell us something about your family background.

Sharanyaa: I am a single child. My parents are engineers. My grandfather is an IITian. My mom has her own coaching classes, and I owe all my success to her. My father works as a national marketing head.

Q Which subject did you find most challenging, and how did you overcome it?

Sharanyaa: Geography was a subject I struggled with. Disciplined and regular alert towards the subject helped me achieve a perfect score. I focused on NCERT, and practised many sample papers and previous year papers.

Q How important were NCERT books in your preparation? Did you use any additional resources?

Sharanyaa: I read all the NCERT textbooks at least 10 times before each exam. I practiced the exercise questions.
