What is LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026
LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation runs this scholarship. The Foundation was set up on October 20, 2006. It is registered with the Charity Commissioner under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. Its aim is to help students from weaker sections continue their studies after school.
The award covers students studying in India in a government or private college or university. It also covers technical and vocational courses in Industrial Training Institutes affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training. Integrated courses taken after 12th Class are covered too. So students at institutions like Banaras Hindu University, Aligarh Muslim University and Jadavpur University fall inside the scope, along with students in small ITIs.

The money goes straight to the student's bank account through NEFT. The account must be active. If it is dormant, get it activated before you apply. A cancelled cheque with the beneficiary name is needed at the time of selection.
The first instalment becomes due on selection. The second instalment has to be claimed by the student. For this, submit the first semester result or an attendance certificate. If your college does not follow the semester system, submit only the attendance certificate.
You will also have to give a short declaration saying your institute holds no semester exams. Students at large campuses such as Savitribai Phule Pune University, University of Mumbai and Osmania University should collect this certificate from the college office.
The scholarship runs for the full duration of the course. Internship periods and stipend periods are not covered.
LIC Scholarship 2026 Total Seats and Division Wise Quota
LIC has 112 Divisional Offices across India. Each office picks 120 students.
| Category |

8,960 |
| Special Scholarship |
40 (20 boys + 20 girls) |

Gender slots can be swapped if one side falls short inside a category. If a Division cannot fill its seats, those empty seats are pooled centrally. They are then given to Divisions that have a waiting list. This is done through a central ranking.

Documents Required for LIC Scholarship 2026 Application Form
The online form asks for three uploads. Keep scanned copies ready before you begin.
-
Income certificate showing the yearly gross income of both parents from all sources
-
Marksheet of 10th Class or 12th Class, as per your category
-
Proof of admission for the session 2026-27
The income certificate must come from a competent revenue authority of your state. This can be a Tehsildar, District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner, Collector, Revenue Circle Officer or Sub Divisional Magistrate. Officers of a panchayat or municipality can also issue it. A certificate issued earlier is fine if it is valid for the previous financial year.
You will also need your bank details and the last four digits of your Aadhaar number. Original documents are checked later, only if you are shortlisted.
LIC Scholarship 2026 Selection Process and Merit List
Selection is based on merit alone. Your percentage in 10th Class or 12th Class decides your rank. The zone of selection is the LIC Divisional area, not the whole country.
Here is how the process moves-
-
Your application is routed to one of the 112 Divisions using your address PIN code.
-
All eligible applications in that Division are ranked by marks.
-
The Division picks students up to the number of seats it has.
-
If seats are filled and eligible students are still left, a waiting list is made.
-
Selected students get an email from the Divisional Office.
-
Divisional officials then verify marks and income physically. Copies signed by any LIC Branch In Charge are accepted.
-
After verification, the money is sent by NEFT.
If two students have the same marks, the one with lower parental income is picked first. If both marks and income match, LIC officials prepare a financial assessment report and that decides the outcome. A student who is not already getting any other scholarship gets preference in a tie.
Between a male and a female applicant from the same family, the female student is preferred in a tie. This rule helps girls at institutions such as Lovely Professional University, SRM Institute of Science and Technology and Bangalore University as much as it helps girls in small ITIs.
The Senior Divisional Manager In-Charge of the Divisional Office gives the final approval.
Commonly asked questions
The yearly income of your parents or guardian from all sources must not cross INR 4,50,000. This includes agricultural income. You need an income certificate from a competent revenue authority.
Yes. A central or state government scholarship does not block your application. But a scholarship from another trust or institution makes you ineligible under this scheme.
LIC Scholarship 2026 Renewal Rules for Next Year
The award does not renew on its own. You have to keep your marks up every year.
| Category |
Minimum Marks Needed |
Extra Condition |
|---|---|---|
| General, Medical and Engineering |
55% or equal SGPA/CGPA |
Pass in all subjects each semester |
| General, Graduation in Arts, Science, Commerce and other courses |
50% or equal SGPA/CGPA |
Pass in all subjects each semester |
| Special Scholarship |
50% in the first yearly exam |
Pass in all subjects |
Two more points matter here. A student who clears a subject through grace marks becomes ineligible. So does a student who clears a failed subject in a later semester. This holds even if the total percentage is above the limit. Students who miss exams for reasons beyond their control may be considered on sympathetic grounds. For this, a formal letter with a recommendation from the competent authority is needed.
Regular attendance is also required. If you change your school or college during the scholarship period, tell your Divisional Office at once. Send the leaving certificate, transfer certificate or migration certificate along with the marksheet. Students shifting between campuses like Manipal Academy of Higher Education, VIT Vellore and Andhra University should do this without delay.
Rates fixed at the time of your selection stay the same till your course ends.
