Diploma in Computer Engineering - Batch of 2024

A college suitable for completing your Diploma, but lacking placements and modern labs.
Placements: I completed my Diploma from G. V. Acharya Polytechnic. To be honest, there were no placement opportunities provided by the college, especially for the Diploma in Computer Engineering and Information Technology courses. The college mainly focuses on academics and helping students earn their diplomas so they can pursue higher studies. It is a good option if your goal is to complete your diploma and get admission into a better institution for your degree, but it does not offer campus placement or internship support.
Infrastructure: To be honest, the college infrastructure is not very good. I would say it is average. Since we were in a technology related course, the labs were not up to the mark-only a few computers worked properly, while most were slow and lagged a lot. The library facilities were also not very impressive. Overall, I would rate the infrastructure as average. Regrading the hostel, I cannot comment because I was a day scholar and did not stay in the hostel.
Faculty: Only a few teachers were genuinely good and experienced. Most of the faculty members were not very experienced, and their teaching skills were not very effective. This course curriculum is also not very relevant to current industry requirements, so I would say it does not really make students industry-ready. As for the semester exams, the question paper comes directly from the MSBTE board. To pass, we need to score at least 21 marks out of 70 in each subject.
Other: I chose the Diploma in Computer Engineering because I love coding, and I believe this field has a strong future with many opportunities. The best part of the course is that it gives a basic foundation in programming and computer fundamentals. However, I feel the course could be much better if it included subjects based on current and modern technologies, so students can stay updated with industry trends. There are many events related to coding and technology - such as hackathons, coding competitions, and skill-based workshops- but these are usually held in other colleges.

It is an average college with an unforgettable experience.
Placements: In GVAP, only 30% of students got placed because half students opted for further studies. The highest package is 6 LPA and the average package is 4 LPA. The lowest package is 2.5 LPA because very few companies hire freshers that too after their diploma. A few companies like Bharat Fordge, Kalyani Fordge, etc., visit the college to hire students. 90% of students got internships. Mostly, all students got internships without any college help. The college provides 3-4 internship opportunities for students. Some roles like content creator using AI and some AI-based research internships are offered to students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is in bad condition because the college is not renovated for a long time and maintained properly. There are some facilities but half are not working properly. There is a canteen which has average quality food. Sports and games are played on the grounds of the college.
Faculty: Teachers are not that qualified. The teacher-to-student ratio is poor. Most of the faculty members with very little experience except a few of them. The course is more practical oriented so it gives a lot of practical knowledge but there are very few recruiters who want Diploma students.
Other: Computer engineering course is in demand as well as it is my interest so I chose this course. The best things are knowledge and technology in this course. It would be wonderful if the college increased faculty members and provided quality infrastructure. College life is nice and the extracurricular activities are average. Fest and events are arranged vastly.
