CM inaugurates KIMS Super Speciality Hospital & Cancer Centre

August 01, 2022: In the presence of Dr Achyuta Samanta, the founder of KIIT, KISS, and KIMS, and Naba Kishore Das, the state's minister of health and family welfare, the KIMS Super Speciality Hospital and the KIMS Cancer Centre were officially opened on Friday by Odisha Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik.

The CM enjoyed the upgraded amenities while touring the KIMS campus in a battery-operated car during his visit. The CM evaluated the patient-friendly programmes that KIMS has developed.

In order to better serve the general population and those in the economically disadvantaged sections, KIMS has expanded its infrastructure to include 1600 fully air-conditioned hospitals. Patients travelling from neighbouring states like West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand as well as from Odisha will be able to access the most cutting-edge medical care at the sophisticated complexes.

The addition of the new facilities would significantly increase the availability of high-quality healthcare at a reasonable cost, establish new standards, and reinforce KIMS' commitment to providing the finest care possible in Odisha alone.

There will be 12 Super Speciality departments in the 300-bed Super Speciality Hospital. These include urology, neurology, neurosurgery, endocrinology, clinical immunology, and rheumatology; orthopaedics and spinal surgery; and plastic surgery. They also include gastroenterology, hepatology, surgical gastroenterology, nephrology, and kidney transplant.

Prof. Bidhu Kalyan Mohanti, a renowned radiation oncologist, will be in charge of the 300-bed facility. With its five different Super Speciality Departments—Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Oncology, and Palliative Care—the Center will be of great assistance to residents of Odisha and beyond.

In Odisha, it is the sole facility with a few pieces of cutting-edge medical gear. The hospital has invented sophisticated techniques to hasten patient recovery, and top-tier organisations in India and overseas have recognised the hospital for its services. KIMS Becomes 5th Best Multi-Speciality Medical Facility in Eastern India By English Periodical Outlook Magazine

April 21, 2022: The prominent English periodical Outlook magazine has named the KIMS - Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences in Bhubaneswar the 5th Best Multi-Speciality Medical Facility in Eastern India.

The Orthopaedics Department of KIMS is ranked 6th in India, and the Paediatrics Department is ranked 9th, according to the Outlook Health Best Hospital Ranking 2022, published by Outlook magazine and NEB Research, reaffirming KIMS commitment to providing quality and affordable treatment to the community. In the All-India rating, the Gastroenterology and Neurology Departments are ranked 10th and Cardiology is ranked 12th, respectively.

KIMS began as a constituent School of Medical Sciences under KIIT Deemed-to-be-University in 2007 under the leadership of Dr Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, and has since grown to become one of Eastern India's largest healthcare service providers thanks to people's trust, goodwill, and wider recognition.

About 1,500 doctors, 950 highly qualified nursing staff and 900 paramedics make up Team KIMS, which supports the medical college and its constituent hospital. There are 1,000 people working in non-medical and support sectors such as patient care, IT, finance, insurance claims, and other areas, adding to the existing strength.

KIMS Organises 41st APICON Odisha 2021

December 28, 2021: The Department of Medicine at KIMS hosted the 41st Apicon Odisha 2021, a three-day annual conference of the Association of Physicians of India, Odisha State Branch, on the 18th and 19th of December 2021, with a pre-conference on critical care, ECG, and ECHO on the 17th of December 2021. In the presence of Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, Dr A Murugunathan, Past President, Association of Physicians of India (API), and other dignitaries, His Excellency Prof. Ganeshi Lal, Hon'ble Governor of Odisha, started the conference. The Inaugural Ceremony took place in Raj Bhawan, Odisha, and was broadcast live on KIMS Auditorium. On this occasion, the Governor also released the conference memento.

In the midst of the Covid epidemic, the conference was held in a hybrid format, with 200 doctors from throughout the state attending in person and another 300 doctors participating virtually. Around 150 nationally renowned professors from both inside and outside the state gave presentations at this conference.

Aside from high-quality scientific debates, a mediquiz and paper presentation competition were also organised. KIMS' Dr Gourishankar Rao and Dr Rajdeep Sarkar secured first and second place in the Mediquiz and Free paper presentation competitions, respectively. This conference is the first of its kind in Odisha to be held in a hybrid format.

The Chairman of the API Odisha State Branch and other members of the Association thanked the organisers for conducting such a beautiful conference in hybrid mode while adhering to all Covid guidelines during the valedictory ceremony. The infrastructure, ambiance, and seamless running of the event, as well as the quality of the scientific talks, were praised by the national faculties. The delegates who attended were given six CME credit hours by the Odisha Council for Medical Registration.
