The Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) as an intake capacity of 150 seats for the B.Des in Fashion Design program. Both Mohali and Ludhinana has 60 seats each, while Jalandhar has 30 seats.

Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology, Mohali has below criteria for taking admissions to it's various courses:

| M.Sc. | Candidate must have passed graduation B.Sc/B.Tech/B.E or BCA/B.Com/BA/BCA with any one of the following subjects (Economics/Statistics/Management/Marketing/Mathematics /Textiles/ Fashion/ Accounts/ Computers /Home Science/any other related Diploma) from a recognised university. |
| B.Sc. | A candidate who has passed any Public/ School/ University Examination in India Recognized by the Association of Indian Universities or A Pass grade in Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by National Open School with minimum of 5 subjects or 3 or 4 years Diploma recognised by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education are eligible for the course. |
| M.Des | UG Degree of Fashion Design/Textile Design/ Knitwear Design/ Clothing & Textiles/ Apparel and Furnishing/ Home Science or any other allied field's course. |
