TCG offers admission on the basis of merit. Therefore, candidates must secure a minimum aggregate of 55% in PG level courses such as MSc/ MCom/ MA/ MPhil/ M.Tech or equivalent. Candidates with 75% in 4 year UG level courses are also eligible to pursue PhD at TCG Crest. Furthermore, the Institute provides 5% marks relaxation to the SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS, differently abled category candidates.

TCG Crest offers PhD in Cryptology and Post-Quantum Cryptology for 3 years in full-time mode. Candidates must secure a minimum aggregate of 55% in PG level course or 75% in 4 year UG level degree. The selection round includes 2 steps, test and interview. Candidates must qualify entrance exam, research proposal, and the academic record to get shortlisted for the interview round. Final selected candidates will be notified through the notice published on the official website of the Institute and/or email to the selected candidates.

Yes, TCG CREST has its own entrance exam, which is referred to as the "TCG CREST written qualifying test." This test is a part of the admission process for candidates who fall under Channel 3. Candidates who have not qualified for any national-level test must qualify in the TCG CREST written test to be shortlisted for an interview. Admission to the PhD programme at TCG CREST is not granted without either a National level fellowship or an Institutional fellowship of TCG CREST, and this written test is one of the pathways to eligibility for the programme.

Eligibility for the CQuERE (Center for Quantum Sciences and Technologies) PhD Programme at TCG Crest requires candidates to have an M.Sc in Physics or Chemistry, preferably with a focus on Physical Chemistry, or an ME/MTech in Engineering Physics or related fields. Additionally, candidates with an MS in Computer Science are eligible, with a preference for those who have completed relevant courses in MSc level Quantum Mechanics. All applicants must have qualified in national-level tests such as NET, INSPIRE, JEST, GATE, CSIR, DST, DBT, or equivalent examinations in the areas of Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or Computer Science.
