Job Opportunities for Electrical Engineers in India!
From electric vehicles to microelectronics, signal processing to systems and electric networks - Electrical Engineering and Electronics offers a lot of scope and job opportunities.
For the uninitiated, Electrical Engineering is far from repairing merely refrigerators, TVs, and fuses. From electric vehicles to microelectronics, signal processing and instrumentation to systems and electric networks, from control systems and electromagnetism to power generation techniques - Electrical Engineering and Electronics offers a lot of scope and job opportunities. On an average, fresh graduate Electrical Engineers get a placement of Rs 3 to 3.5 lakhs per annum.
Most popular sub-disciplines of Electrical engineering are:
- Power Engineering: Transformers, electric motors, generators, inverters, high voltage engineering and power grids are some of the specializations of this field. The future in this field however lies in satellite-controlled power systems with real-time feedback systems.
- Control Engineering: Electrical circuits, microcontrollers, digital signal processors, and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) used in flight and propulsion systems of commercial airliners, automobiles, industrial automation, and space flights - all owe themselves to the works of Control Engineers.
- Electronic Circuits: Electronic circuits made up of resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes and transistors are used to work out a specific function in a machine. It is Electronics Engineer who masters in this field. Radio engineering, radar systems, communications to smallest chips in our systems are all dependent on electronic engineering.
- Microelectronics: Very small electronic circuits have become a separate field in itself. Further, this one has developed to Nanoelectronics and uses a significant amount of knowledge in chemistry and quantum mechanics.
Besides these, Electrical & Electronics Engineer can also branch out to Signal Processing, Telecommunications, Instrumentation Engineering, and Computer Engineering specializations. Mechatronics is another derived field related to Electrical Engineering. Job opportunities for Electrical Engineering in India also include biomedical fields where they design invaluable medical equipments such as pacemakers, artificial hearts, ventilators, MRI scanners, electrocardiograph monitors, and cochlear implants.
