VIT placement drive 2019: Over 2,000 VIT students land jobs
VIT has had a positive placement season with over 2000 students securing their super dream and dream jobs.
The placement season at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has been held with a lot of positivity. Over 2,000 students have secured placement in what they term as โsuper dreamโ (with a CTC of more than Rs 10 lakh a year) and โdreamโ (a CTC of more than Rs 5.5 lakh pa) jobs from major corporates this year.
According to the official statistics of 2019 placements, a total of 690 companies visited the VIT campus and offered 6180 job offers, of which 449 were super dream job offers, while 2022 were dream offers.
VIT Placements for 2020 batch as of now has seen a total of 5518 job offers with as many as 3873 students placed. The highest CTC has been recorded as Rs 41.6 lakh per annum (Microsoft), while the average CTC was recorded at Rs 6.72 lakh per annum.
Microsoft has recruited seven students with a CTC of Rs 41.6 lakh per annum from the current graduating batch of 2020. This has been the highest so far. Four companies offering more than Rs 25 lakh per annum are Amazon, PayPal, Cisco, De Shaw which have hired 17, 3, 21 and 2 respectively. While for the batch graduating in 2019, Microsoft has recruited 14 students offering them a CTC of Rs 39.5 lakh per annum.
As many as 1926 internship offers were also made to the students.
TCS Digital has hired 244 students, which is the highest digital offers in the country for TCS. This number has surpassed the earlier record of 82 offers in the last academic year, which was also at VIT.
Wipro hired 278 students for its turbo hiring which again is the highest number of Dream offers in the country. The number surpasses last yearโs VIT-Wipro offers of 238.
VIT and Wipro will make their entry in the Limca Book of Records for the 4th time in a row for the highest number of Dream offers. At present, IT services companies recruitments are happening and the placements schedule will go till next May. MBA and non-engineering placements will begin in September 2019.
Consulting companies such as JP Morgan, Deloitte, and PwC have also recruited students from VIT. Other consulting companies such as KPMG, BCG, and E&Y are expected to visit the institute in the coming month. Also, 150 companies have conducted recruitments for internships and have recruited 788 students from MTech and MCA courses.
Major internship recruiters included Intel, Amazon, Oracle, Net App, VM Ware, Philips, Cummins, and Reliance. The selected students have started with their 10-months internship starting in August. They are being paid a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000-50,000. After the period of internship, most of the students will be absorbed as full-time employees with a starting salary of Rs 5 lakh per annum and above.
