DU constituted a 16-member committee to review undergraduate admissions

Delhi University has constituted a 16-member high-powered committee to review undergraduate admission processes.

To keep a regular check on undergraduate admissions; Delhi University (DU) has constituted a 16-member ‘high-powered committee'. This committee will review the undergraduate admission processes and will make recommendations to improve the system.

This committee is composed of 16 principals of DU colleges and it was constituted by the University of 11th November, 2011 and it will foresee the implementation of undergraduate admissions in DU colleges for 2012-13 academic sessions.

Dr Deepak Malhotra, Chairman of the committee and Principal of Dyal Singh Evening College said that it has happened for the first time that DU has constituted a high-powered committee to make recommendations on undergraduate admissions. It is expected that the committee will come up with its recommendations by March 2012.

The purpose of constituting this committee:

  • To make the required recommendations in the admission process
  • If necessary, they can make the relevant changes in undergraduate-level admissions processes for all categories of students in DU colleges

The committee will conduct its first meeting in the coming days. The committee will discuss various issues in the meeting:

  • Reforms in admission process introduced by DU last year,
  • Fake-certificate submission
  • Irregularities reported this year in ECA (Extra Curricular Activities)
  • Sports admissions and ways to prevent such instances
