Cabinet has increased the Penalty for Capitation Fee to Rs. 1 crore

The government has raised the penalty on educational institutions for charging capitation fees. The penalty has been increased from the proposed Rs. 50 lakh to Rs. 1 crore. This practice has come into effect to curb the unfair practices in the higher education segment.

1500 scholarships announced for disabled students

The National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) have announced 1,500 scholarships for students with disabilities. This scholarship scheme is being implemented from the current academic year and includes total fee reimbursement, books, stationery allowance and maintenance allowance.

Singapore MBA salaries are the fifth highest in Asia

According to a report by TopMBA.com, Singapore MBA salaries are the fifth highest in Asia. The report revealed that the average salary of MBAs in Singapore was US$82,700 (S$106,691), compared to US$75,000 in Malaysia, US$70,300 in South Korea, US$59,700 in China, US$48,000 in Vietnam, US$46,000 in India and US$42,500 in Thailand.

ETS announces 10 TOEFL scholarships for Indian Students

Educational Testing Services (ETS) has announced 10 TOEFL scholarships for Indian students with a total scholarship amount of USD 70,000. The scholarship award is applicable for students pursuing graduate or undergraduate programs for the academic year 2012. Out of 10 scholarships, four scholarships amounting to USD 10, 000 will be allocated for pursuing higher studies in countries such as USA, UK, Canada and Australia.
