Gujarat University to hike Exam Fee 10 times!
Due to the implementation of Semester System in all the courses, Gujarat University (GU) Exam fee has been hiked by ten times - from Rs 100 to Rs 1,000 per year. Currently, Gujarat University was spending over Rs 3 crore to conduct the final exams. With the introduction of the semester system, the exams will have to be held twice and the university will have to shell out Rs 7 crore to conduct the exams.
To make up for huge difference in exam costs, GU has decided to charge Rs 500 per semester to students - Rs 250 fpr the written exams and Rs 250 for practical, viva and dissertation exams. Thus, a student will have to submit Rs 1,000 as exam fee per year. The exam fee can also be increased by 10 to 15% ever year to meet the rise in the costs of conducting exams.
Gujarat University exam fee for postgraduate courses have already been raised to Rs 500 per semester since last year. Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has raised the exam fee to Rs 750 per semester. All Vice Chancellors of the universities have recommended the state education department to allocate exam expenditure funds so that students can be spared the steep hike of fees.
