IGNOUs examination to commence from 1st December 2011: Media Release

The Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU's) examination shall commence from December 1, 2011. The tentative datesheet of the examination is available on the university's website. The exams shall be held in two shifts starting from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the exam centers chosen by the student. Exams for more than 500 academic programmes shall conclude on 29th December, 2011.

The examination forms are available at all the regional centers and in the main campus of the university. It can also be downloaded from the website. Students are required to fill in the examination form with Rs.60 per paper as the fee and submit them in their regional centers. The last date to submit the forms is September 30, 2011 without late fee. However, a late fee fine of Rs.300 will be charged from October 1 to October 20, 2011.

The requisite amount for the examination is to be submitted in the form of a demand draft in favour of IGNOU, payable at the city of the regional center where the student is submitting his/her examination form.

Submission of assignments is necessary before the submission of the examination form failing which students will not be allowed to sit for the exam. They are required to get a stamp of approval from their study center's coordinator/ incharge on the examination form confirming the submission of assignments for which they need to carry a copy of their grade card (available on the university's website) and examination form to their study centers for the verification.

The university conducts examination twice in a year. Those enrolled for January session are eligible to give examination in December while those enrolled for July session are eligible for exams in June.
