Australian vocational training institute Southbank Institute of Technology has signed a pact with Franchise India Holdings Limited (FIHL) to provide vocational skill training to students. The main purpose of this agreement is to improve employability through vocational training. Both the institutes will provide training in sectors like health and beauty, retail, hospitality and business management.

This vocational training will offer certificate courses to students which will be recognized by the Australian institute and the Government of Queensland, Australia. Southbank director Robyn Tyler said that there is a massive demand for specialized training packages in a growing economy such as India.

She added that the institute wants to establish a pan-India level vocational training business to meet the needs of qualified staff in the retail and hair and beauty industry.

These training packages will be highly specialized to meet the needs of Indian marketplace and they are custom-made to match the skills and experience needed by specific businesses.

Franchise India Limited president Gaurav Marya said that the basic purpose of this collaboration is to fill the gap between demand from industry and the lack of skilled workers. He added that the first batch of training will commence from the first quarter of 2012.
