Jamia to provide residential coaching to underprivileged children
Jamia Millia Islamia is planning to open well-set residential coaching academy for underprivileged children by next year. Jamia Residential Coaching Academy will be an improvisation on free coaching facility that is already being provided to women, SC, ST, and OBC students for Civil Service Examinations and other competitive entrance exams by Centre of Coaching and Career Planning. Now, the Centre is planning to re-work on the SRK building in the Jamia Campus to build a hostel for students receiving coaching and be re-christened as Residential Coaching Academy.
UGC has already sanctioned Rs 5 crore to build hostel and academic blocks for Jamia Residential Academy. The academic block will have a computer lab, seminar hall, and an exclusive library for Civil Service aspirants. Full-time faculty members are being hired for this coaching academy and the faculty members of other universities and institutes will also serve here as visiting faculty members. The number of student intake of Civil Services coaching will be doubled from 100 to 200.
At present, the students are staying in a transit hostel.
