How about learning various languages in just one go..?? Some of the Indian B-schools offer students the option of learning mandarin and one of them has made it mandatory for its students to learn the language. You could be the master of the universe as you'll have command on various languages, spoken by most of the habitants.

Honestly, it will provide students with an extra advantage as students at a B-school would be able to speak English, Hindi, and Mandarin; he or she would be able to communicate with at least half the world's population.

Bala V. Balachandran, founder of the Great Lakes Institute of Management in Chennai, has made mandarin mandatory in their institute. He also said that, it's good to have knowledge of Hindi, English and Mandarin and it can add some scores to the career of a young manager. You should also learn the language of the country, which is leading or going to lead the global economy.

Over the past decade, economic surge in China has prompted several business schools in the country to offer a course in mandarin. The Chinese economy is the second largest in the world (after the US). Spokesperson for the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong, which offers a course in mandarin, said that, in the emerging world disorders, it has become a necessity for a business manager to learn the language of a country which has a huge reputation in the global economy.

China is an emerging economy and trade between India and China is growing at 40% a year and was $60 billion (around Rs2.87 trillion today) last year and few more deals are set to happen between India and China. In that case, conveying students the knowledge of mandarin can expand the horizons in all directions, said IIM Shillong spokesperson.

Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies
Centum Learning Ltd.
IIM Kozhikode
( planned to start a course in mandarin from this year)

IIM Shillong's spokesperson said that, as the school didn't tried to influence the Mandarin course during the last placement season but as now it planning to do so. Mandarin knowledge could also help students in acquiring better jobs at their part.

Director of admissions at Great Lakes, Easwar Krishna Iyer said that, it won't have any immediate effect but it help students in the due course of time.
