National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Entrance Exam 2011
Union Public Service Commission conducts National Defence Academy and Naval Academy (NDA &NA) Entrance Exam 2011. The exam is scheduled for 21st August, 2011 and it is a gateway for admission to the Army, Navy, and Air Force Wings of NDA. 
Age Limit:
Should be 16½ - 19 years old as on 1st July, 2012
Eligibility required for this exam:
For Army Wing of National Defence Academy - Should be 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
For Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA and for 10+2 (Cadet Entry Scheme) at Naval Academy - Should be 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
Note: Candidates who are appearing for the 12th class as per the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination also eligible to compete subject to certain conditions.
General Eligibility for both the exams:
1. Unmarried male candidates only
2. Nationality -
- A candidate must be either:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Bhutan, or
- A subject of Nepal, or
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam, with the intention of permanently setting in India)
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. Certificate of eligibility will not, however, be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.
Physical Standards:
Candidates must be physically fit as per the physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II).
Scheme of the Examination:
Mathematics 2½ hours 300 marks
General Ability 2½ hours 600 marks
Total 900 marks
Selection Procedure:
Selection is a three way process:
- A written examination held by the Union Public Service Commission.
- An interview by the Service Selection Board to assess a candidate's officer potentialities (Intelligence and personality test).
- A medical examination by a Service Medical Board.
