New tablet at just Rs 5000
The wave of budget tablets dedicated to education in India now has a new member - ATab. This 7-inch Android table has been launched by AcrossWorld Education and Go-Tech at a price of Rs 5,000.
Though not as cheap as Aakash, which was launched in 2011 by the government at just Rs 1,700, ATab offers three years of free access to EducationBridge that provides a platform to teachers, students and institutions to share content and educational resources. It will also offer free access to Open Source, online educational resources of AcrossWorld Education.
Apart from the 7-inch touchscreen, ATab has 1.1 GHz processor, Wi-Fi, 3G (via USB dongle), 512 MB RAM, and 2 GB in-built storage expandable to 16GB via microSD. The look and feel has been envisioned keeping younger generation in mind. The tablet is expected to hit the market by second week of March.
