The University of B.C is opening two offices in India as part of efforts to gain a foothold in one of the worlds fastest growing higher-education markets.

The University of British Columbia is all set to open two marketing offices in India to gain foothold in one of the world's fastest growing higher-education markets. This initiative was announced in trade mission by Premier Christy Clark. The office will be spearheaded by UBCs School of Business, and will allow closer relationships between UBC and post-secondary institutions in India.

This new office will play a good role in increasing student exchange, research and program development with India. UBC has focused on India in its international engagement strategy.  In November 2010, UBC president Stephen Toope and 14 other Canadian university presidents visited India, and realized that an on the-ground presence would be valuable, said Helen Penant, executive director, international at UBC.

The two offices in India - one in New Delhi in partnership with the University of Toronto and another in Bangalore led by the Sauder School of Business - will work to link UBC with Indian higher-education and research institutions, industry, businesses, NGOs, and government.
