University of Calcutta BLIS Entrance Test 2011

University of Calcutta BLIS Entrance Test 2011 will be held on 10th July 2011 (Sunday) at 11 a.m at Asutosh Building. Students are required to produce duly filled in applications in the prescribed format for Entrance Examination for admission to the Bachelor of Library & Information Science Course (BLIS Evening) (2011 -2012). To appear in University of Calcutta BLIS Entrance Test 2011 students must bring their admit card.

The forms will be received by the Department of Library & Information Science, University of Calcutta till 07. 07. 2011 (Thursday) (12 Noon - 4 P.M.) from eligible candidates.

The Application Form along with Information Brochure is available at the University Sales Counter on payment of Rs. 250/-.

Total Intake: 110. Admission will be made on the basis of the merit list of Entrance Examination with reservations as per norms of the University of Calcutta.

Eligibility for University of Calcutta BLIS Entrance Test 2011:

• In order to be eligible for admission to the BLIS course, a student must have Bachelor Degree with Honors (10 + 2+ 3) or Master Degree or a Degree in a technical subject (of the pattern 10 + 2 + 4 or 10 + 2 + 5) such as Medical Science, Engineering, Law etc. of this University or having an equivalent degree of any other University or Institute recognized by this university.

• Persons appearing in the final Part Honours Examination will be allowed to sit for the Admission Test. But their admission to BLIS will be subject to the condition of securing Honours Degree when the result comes out and also of being in the merit list for BLIS course on the basis of Admission Test.
  

Bachelor of Library & Information Science Course, BLIS is a one year programme and taught by a separate and independent faculty for Post - Graduate Studies in Library Science. In 1998 the department of Library science has been renamed as the Department of Library & Information Science offering the course called Bachelor of Library & Information Science (BLISc). The department is presently under the Faculty of Post - Graduates Studies in Education, Journalism and Library & Information Science. Apart from Bachelor's degree, students are offered Library courses at postgraduate, MPhil and also PhD level.
