University of Calcutta inks pact with University of Glasgow, Scotland
University of Calcutta has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Glasglow, Scotland. The basic aim behind this MoU is to enhance the academic and cultural relations. 
University of Calcutta vice chancellor Suranjan Das said that University of Calcutta has already relations with Glasgow University and this agreement will give a formal pattern to this relation and the mutual cooperation will benefit both the universities.
He added that the university has signed many MoUs with Glasgow University but this one is going to be one of the special one. The Glasgow University is providing immense help to the University of Calcutta in terms of financial support.
Glasgow vice chancellor Anton Muscatelli stated that the very first student passed out from the institute was from Bengal. The city has a very rich cultural and educational heritage. Both the universities are very old and renowned so a formal partnership was a natural progression.
Apart from student and faculty exchanges, the agreement also provides for collaborative research projects, lectures and symposia on various subjects.
