SCRA 2012 to be conducted on 29 January 2012.

Special Class Railways Apprentice (SCRA) examination 2012 will be conducted by Union Public services Commission across India on 29 January 2012. This being one of the most prestigious examinations is being aspired by many enthusiasts willing to join the Indian Railway Services. Candidates who clear UPSC SCRA 2012 are selected for the undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. This entire examination comprises of two parts:

  • Part-I: Written Test
  • Part-II: Personality Test

Eligibility: 

All the candidates interested in taking UPSC SCRA 2012 must fulfil the following conditions:

  • Must have passed in the first or second division, the Intermediate or an equivalent examination of a university or board approved by the Government of India with Mathematics and atleast one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.
  • Must be between 17 to 21 years of age as on 1 January 2012. A relaxation of 3 years is provided to the upper age limit of the SC/ST/OBC categories.

Written Exam Structure:

UPSC SCRA 2012 written examination comprises of 3 sections viz. General Ability Test (English, General Knowledge and Psychological Test), Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry) and Mathematics of 2 hours duration each. Each of them has been given an equal weightage of 200 marks. This entire exam is of 6 hours duration with a total weightage of 600 marks.

Students who will clear this entrance will be called up for a round of personality test of 200 marks which is the final round.
