Mystory@Sanjeev Kumar Singh: How I selected my college and course

During my pre university course, I had decided to take Economics as my Major. At AM Jain College, Chennai, the admission procedure included an interview with the principal. Before my interview with him, I interacted with students whose admissions were confirmed and understood that if a student asks for Mathematics, the college provides subject other than that and so on. Keeping this in mind I asked for Logic or Psychology as Major subject during my interaction with the Principal. The principal was shocked and asked me for a third option. Finally, he agreed upon Economics.

During my PG admission, I suffered a lot as the process consisted of entrance test, group discussion and personal interview. Hence, I had to wait for 2 years for admission to the MBA programme. This was in the 1990s. But in the meanwhile, I acquired 2 diploma certificates.

Cracking the entrance exams

Since, I faced a lot of problem due to entrance exams, I would like to tell the students that entrance test is a part of every student’s life. The world is changing drastically and competition is increasing every day. The parameters for admissions are narrowing while the students are not equipped properly, which makes these exams tough. In our time, computer/ internet and other sources were not easily available and we had to run from pillar to post for proper inputs and most of the time we had to face the entrance test by preparing with the available sources only.

I would recommend to all students, 'CSR - Competition Success Review', which provides all latest updates for any exam required. Apart of this, spend more time on the internet reading about your subjects and areas of interest. Coaching Classes are also a good and necessary option to prepare for entrance exams. I think, these few tips will help students to get through their entrance exams.
