The University of Kerala is known as one of the top state-run universities of the country. It is ranked at 5 under State Public University and 25 under the University category by the NIRF 2025.  The University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved all the courses offered by KU. Moreover, it is also re-accredited by NAAC with an 'A' grade. MA distance courses offered by the university are also recognised by the Distance Education Bureau (DEB). Both MGU and Calicut University are popular universities in Kerala. The University has released the median package details in the NIRF report 2024. During 2023 placements, the median package offered to PG (2-year) students was INR 3.26 LPA. Earlier, the median package offered in 2022 was INR 4.80 LPA. Looking at the past three years' records (2021 to 2023), a fluctuating trend was observed in the median package of PG (2-year) courses.
